António Ramos Pires 

Bachelor of Science in Electrotechnical Engineering, University of Coimbra (1975); Post-Graduation in Quality Engineering, New University of Lisbon (1985); Master of Science in Control and Quality Assurance, University of Cranfield (1989); PhD in Industrial Management, New University of Lisbon (2005).

Large professional experience in industry and services companies as consultant, auditor and evaluator. UNIDO International consultant for infrastructures of Quality.

President of the Portuguese Institute for Quality (1999-2000), Coordinating Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal, and Pro President of the same Institute for Quality Management. From 2012 to 2017 he was President of the Board of Directors of the Portuguese Association for Quality.

Author of several books and training manuals, with more than 140 articles in congresses, journal and / or conferences.

Coordinating Editor of the Scientific Journal TMQ_ Techniques, Methodologies and Quality.

 Founder of RIQUAL (Network of Researchers in Quality).

Helena Barroco

Was admitted to the Portuguese Diplomatic Service in 1997 and is a Diplomatic Advisor to the President of Portugal, Mr. Jorge Sampaio, since 1999. From 2006 onwards she serves mainly in the context of his international activities (i.e., United Nations Alliance of Civilizations; fight against Tuberculosis as part of the MDG’s Agenda; Dialogue Café Global Network; the Global Commission on Drugs Policy). Since 2013 she coordinates the programmes developed by the Global Platform for Syrian students www.globalplatformforsyrianstudents.org and advocates for the promotion of higher education in emergencies in a sustainable and systemic way. Ms Barroco has degrees in Philosophy, Linguistics, and a PhD in Philosophy of Quantum Physics from UCL, Leuven Catholic University (Belgium).

In 2017, at the United Nations, she represented the former leader on a panel at the High Level Event for Action on Education and the Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs.
